FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
We know you might have a few questions before starting your Becoming Me journey. Here are some of the things parents and carers often want to know.
What is Becoming Me?
Becoming Me is a 12-box journey designed to help tweens navigate growing up with a little more confidence, understanding and support.
Each box combines an age-appropriate journal with activities, challenges and a few fun goodies, giving kids something to enjoy while gently opening conversations about the changes that come with growing up.
What age is Becoming Me for?
Becoming Me is designed for tweens, generally around ages 8–13.
Every child develops at their own pace, so parents and carers are always the best judge of whether the content is right for their child.
Are there separate boxes for girls and boys?
Yes. We offer separate Becoming Me journeys for girls and boys.
Many of the themes overlap, including emotions, confidence, friendships, relationships, self-care and understanding changes during puberty, but the journals are tailored where appropriate.
What topics do the journals cover?
The journals explore the physical, emotional and social changes that come with growing up.
Topics across the journey include puberty, body changes, periods, hygiene, emotions, hormones, friendships, relationships, confidence, self-care and understanding how our bodies work.
Some journals discuss bodily functions and physical changes that your child may not have learned about yet. This is intentional. The information is presented in an age-appropriate, straightforward and supportive way.
We don't publish the full journals online because we want children to experience each one as part of their Becoming Me journey.
Will I know what my child is learning about?
Yes. When your box is sent, parents or carers will receive a Heads Up message explaining what that month's journal covers, including topics that may lead to questions or conversations at home.
We'll also let you know what goodies are included, so you can decide whether anything isn't suitable for your particular child.
What comes in each box?
Each box contains a Becoming Me journal based around that month's theme, along with activities, challenges and a selection of fun goodies.
Box 1 also includes Between Us, a shared parent-and-child notebook designed to make it easier to ask questions, share thoughts and start conversations that might feel awkward to say out loud.
Will my box contain exactly what I see in the photos?
Not necessarily. Our photos give you an idea of what to expect, but colours, styles, brands and individual goodies may vary depending on availability.
We may occasionally substitute an item for something of similar value or purpose.
The journal and overall theme of each box will remain the focus of the Becoming Me experience.
When do I need to order?
The order cut-off is the 22nd of each month.
Orders placed by the 22nd will be included in that month's dispatch. Orders placed after the 22nd will begin with the following month's dispatch.
But don't worry — you won't miss a box.
Every child starts their Becoming Me journey with Box 1, regardless of when they subscribe.
When are boxes sent?
Boxes are dispatched on or around the 28th of each month.
If the 28th falls on a Sunday or public holiday, we may send boxes slightly earlier.
Once your box has been dispatched, delivery times will depend on the postal service.
If I order after the cut-off, will my child start with Box 2?
No. Every child starts with Box 1.
The Becoming Me boxes are a journey rather than calendar-based monthly editions. If you order after the cut-off, your journey simply begins with the next dispatch.
Can I buy just the first box?
Yes. You can purchase Box 1 on its own if you'd like to try Becoming Me before committing to a subscription.
What if we love Box 1 and want to subscribe afterwards?
We'd love to have you continue the journey.
For now, if you've purchased Box 1 individually and then decide you'd like to continue with a 3, 6 or 12-month subscription, please get in touch with us directly.
We'll help set up your subscription so your child continues with the next box in their journey rather than receiving Box 1 again.
What subscription options are available?
We offer 3, 6 and 12-month subscription options, as well as the option to purchase the first box individually.
Each subscription follows the Becoming Me journey in order.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, but please contact us as soon as possible.
Because we order and prepare stock based on active subscriptions, cancellations need to be received before the monthly order cut-off on the 22nd to prevent the next box from being prepared.
If your next box has already been ordered, prepared or processed, that box may still be charged and sent before the cancellation takes effect.
Any promotional or subscription pricing is based on the selected subscription term. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for the full conditions that apply to 3, 6 and 12-month plans.
Can I return a box?
Because Becoming Me boxes contain personal-use items and printed materials, we generally can't accept returns once a box or its contents have been opened.
If your unopened box needs to be returned, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving it so we can discuss the available options.
This does not affect any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
What if something arrives damaged or is missing?
Please get in touch with us and include a photo where possible.
We'll look into what happened and work with you to find an appropriate solution.
What if I'm simply not happy with my box?
Please contact us.
We're a small business and genuinely want Becoming Me to be something families look forward to receiving. If something hasn't met your expectations, we'd much rather hear about it and have the opportunity to understand what went wrong.
This doesn't automatically mean we're able to offer a refund or replacement, but we'll always consider the circumstances fairly and in line with our Returns & Refund Policy and Australian Consumer Law.
What if I don't think a particular item is suitable for my child?
We know every family and every child is different.
That's one of the reasons our Parent Heads Up includes information about the goodies inside the box. If something isn't appropriate for your child, you can simply remove it before giving them the box.
Does my child need to complete everything in the journal?
Not at all.
The journals are there to support, not pressure. Kids can work through them at their own pace, skip something they don't feel ready for and come back to topics later.
Growing up doesn't happen on a schedule, and Becoming Me isn't supposed to either.
Is Becoming Me a replacement for talking to my child about puberty and growing up?
No. Becoming Me is designed to help start and support those conversations, not replace them.
Our goal is to give kids reliable, age-appropriate information while making it a little easier for parents and children to talk about subjects that can sometimes feel awkward.
Still have a question?
